Meet Gary Presser!

Hello, my name is Gary Presser, better known as the Watson to Shell McMillan’s Holmes in the Urban Tails Pet Shop Mysteries!

I didn’t start out to be an amateur sleuth, heck no!  I’m an actor.  I played Shell’s partner for five years in a cable TV show, Spy Anyone?   The two of us were secret agents, always off on some crazy mission to save the world!  Although there were romantic sparks between our characters, in real life Shell and I were more like brother and sister – obvious to anyone from the way we constantly argued.  I admit, I was depressed when the series was canceled, and even more so when Shell announced she had no interest in a reboot of the series (another cable channel wanted to pick us up).  I immediately set out to her new home in Fox Hollow, Connecticut, determined to convince her to do the series and return to L.A. with me.  Instead, I found myself smack dab in the middle of a murder mystery. (Volume 1, THE TIME FOR MURDER IS MEOW) Shell was the prime suspect and I couldn’t just leave her hanging, now, could I?  The upshot of it all was, Shell was cleared, and to my surprise I found myself liking small town life…and Shell’s friend Olivia. ☺

I’ll be sticking around Fox Hollow for a while, but while I hunt for the perfect apartment, I’m crashing with Shell (Her mother refers to it as “freeloading” but it’s hardly that. After all, I clean the house, cook the meals and help out at the pet shop! Hardly what a freeloader does, if you ask me.  I personally think that Clarissa is just a teeny bit afraid that my intentions toward Shell are not honorable, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.  Like I said, Shell is like a sister to me and besides, right now she only has eyes for her boyfriend Josh, the Fox Hollow Homicide Detective.

Speaking of detectives, I’m finding I have a definite knack for this sleuthing thing in our latest adventure, KILLERS OF A FEATHER!

When a former resident slash con artist comes back to Fox Hollow and is murdered, and our friend Rita is accused of the crime, Shell and I pull out all the stops to find out who really dunnit, aided by a parrot named Honey Belle, and super feline sleuth Purrday, of course! I think that my favorite part of the whole investigation is when Shell and I go “undercover” (Shades of Spy Anyone!) and adopt the personas of two memorable tv sitcom characters….and who might they be?
