Behind The Scenes
with Author Katherine H. Brown

I’m Katherine and I’m so happy to be here chatting with you today.

I live in Texas, in the same tiny little community where I was born and grew up. I love it. I love living in the country with acres of land and trees. “Going to town” is only a fifteen minute drive but it still is something my toddler gets really excited about; usually because going to town means going to the library or to get groceries, both of which she enjoys.

In my cozy mystery books, including Costumes & Cadavers, my love of small towns flows onto the pages. My goal is always to create a place, or people, who readers want to come back and see again. Everyone typically knows everyone, nothing stays a secret for long, and you have to love those annoying folks, too.

The Sassy Supplies Cozy Mysteries are a novella series. How many times have you heard someone say (or said it yourself) ‘I really don’t have time to read’? I totally get that. I LOVE reading. It is my number one hobby. But with two daughters and a house to pseudo-clean, plus the time during naps when I’m supposed to be writing, sometimes I feel like I shouldn’t start a new series because I either won’t get to finish it, or it will take me away from things that I should be doing.

That particular problem (lack of time) is solved with this series. Each book is a full mystery but wrapped up in a very fast-paced, short read. You have time to binge the first four books in just one weekend!

Speaking of time, that’s my cue to get back to writing the next book in the series. I hope you have a wonderful week and find the time for some of your favorite things.

About The Book

Costumes & Cadavers: Sassy Supplies Cozy Mystery

Nobody ever plans to be the death of the party.

Party guests congratulate Charity Basham, owner of Sassy Supplies Crafts & More, on the scariness of her backyard skeleton decoration. Unfortunately, Charity didn’t put out any skeleton decorations.

With the discovery of a dead body, her Halloween party turns into a nightmare. With her fingerprints (and some white cat fur) are all over the murder weapon, Charity finds herself at the top of the suspect list.

Can she clear her name before the dishy Detective Sota arrests her for murder?
