To introduce myself, I am a grade 4 student. I had a vivid dream at night once, the dream was about Santa traveling around the world and handing out gifts to kids. I thought about this dream long enough that I was able to create a coloring book based on my entire dream which includes activities, puzzles, quizzes, and much more to help gain knowledge and learning. My dream feels so real while I’m creating my book. Moreover, I am looking forward to creating more books in the future. All of my books help / will help young children that are ages 3 and up to develop reading, art, math, organizational skills, and healthy habits. To add on, my books will make it a positive, educational, fun, and exciting experience for young children.

Student publishes colouring book, inspired by a dream

Misha Joshi, a grade 4 student, self-published a children’s colouring book after she got the clever idea when she woke up one morning. She wanted to make a book that she could give her friends as Christmas gifts.

Planning a book was a big undertaking that required a lot of time and patience. One of the big decisions Misha had to make when planning the book was regarding illustrations. For this, she sought help from a graphic designer, who created the visuals for her book.

Misha came up with the ideas for each page and the storyline, working with the designer to share her edits and selecting the images that would make the final cut. Misha also learned about managing a business, after taking a loan from her father. She is currently paying back all the expenses, including design costs and advertising using some of the proceeds made from the book.

“After long hours of creating designs and making edits, Misha was able to publish her book, which is now available for purchase on Amazon,” said Mitesh Joshi, father of the student. “Misha wanted a part of the proceeds to be donated to charity. I’m incredibly proud of her.”

Misha hopes to get 312 reviews and donate 31.2% of proceeds raised to a charity as her birthday falls on December 3. When asked about who has been an inspiration to her, Misha credited her grade 3 teacher…, who said she was always motivating students to work hard and follow their dreams.

“Misha is a hardworking student who approaches every day with a positive attitude and a willingness to improve. She demonstrates a growth mindset as she constantly sets goals for herself and works hard toward achieving them,” said [her teacher]. “Misha’s colouring book is a testament to her passion, creativity, and inclusive nature as she has included math problems, reading comprehension, and characters from different cultural backgrounds throughout her book.”

[Her teacher] added that he hopes that Misha’s story is able to inspire other students to work hard and follow their passions.

The 3 in 1 Christmas Coloring Book showcases the diversity of the globe as Santa visits all 7 continents, creating a lasting impact helping animals and people wherever he lands. This activity book incorporates colouring pages, stories, puzzles, math problems, dot-to-dot pictures and more.
