This story should deserve so much more than a few stars, but as is I can’t see my way to a higher rating.
First, what I liked; The characters of this story and by extension the series are well written and dynamic. While I haven’t yet read any of the other books ( My KU is about to get a workout), I had no problem keeping up with the extended cast of family members and the outcomes of their own stories. It was a joy to immerse myself into the time period and the workings of the Skye Duchy. The steam factor, though hot, was also tasteful and believable, and the author really does a wonderful job of conveying the raw beauty of the landscape around MacLeod Castle. I can see why Wallace and Catriona love it there.
Wallace is the typical youngest son, full of the impulsivity that comes from the need to prove himself and to stand apart from his many brothers. It is wonderful to see how close the family is despite the minor breaks and frictions that occur in any large family, much less one with so many responsibilities. I am looking forward to catching up with the siblings already chronicled, and seeing what is in store for the rest. I also enjoyed the subplot of the “accidents” that begin to plague the new couple. It was an interesting way to add drama to what could have been a love story whose ending we knew from the start.
This is a solid read that will find an audience, especially with fans of this author.
:: Spoilers Ahead ::

Okay so what missed the mark for me; The wicked seduction promised in the title never appeared, any seduction would have been nice. We got a sweet love story that stands well, but I was hoping for something wicked, naughty, seductive… Also the scandal that sends young Wallace off to lick his wounds did not need to be included in the book at all. It distracted from the plot and made Wallace seem like a shallow Romeo-type man child who fell into and out of love with a stiff breeze, calling into question his feelings for Catriona. Based on the rest of the book, it is even completely out of character for him. A simple mention of the incident as part of a pattern of irresponsible behavior would have sufficed. I hate to complain more but the never ending cycle of ‘move to Inverness’, ‘no stay at Coruisk’, ‘no, Inverness’, ‘but, Coruisk’ ad infinitum kinda of made me dizzy. These may be smvll things but they do add up and distract from what was otherwise a well written story.
I received an advance review copy for free through Silver Dagger Book Tours, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

The Wicked Seduction of Wallace Macleod
MacLeods of Skye Book 5
by JR Salisbury
Genre: Steamy Historical Victorian Romance
After Wallace MacLeod scandalizes his family in a brazen attempt to put a stop to the wedding of the woman he thinks he loves, Wallace flees to the small cottage he’s built on land his father left him on Loch Coruisk. There he intends to make good on his dream to raise and train the finest racers. Women can just be damned. Or at least he says that. . .until he is reacquainted with Lady Catriona Gordon, and falls head over heels in love.
Lady Catriona Gordon discerns that the rumors of the wild Wallace MacLeod are just that – rumors. She finds him handsome, generous and deliciously wicked. She also knows he dangerous to her reputation, but throws caution to the wind, falling madly in love with Wallace.
Twists and turns become a way of life as the couple settles into their new life. Who is behind the accidents and destruction that seem to follow them. Is it a jilted suitor who was not at all happy with her choice of a husband or is it someone closer to the young pair.
The Wicked Seduction of Wallace MacLeod is the fifth book in the MacLeods of Skye series. Each book is a standalone and can be enjoyed out of order.

I’ve always been a creative individual. Writing is just a facet of that creativity…My careers in public relations in and around the entertainment industry, photography, editing, artist management, modeling and special event planning all elevated my passion for writing, not to mention gave me a treasure trove for story lines.
I write women’s fiction; contemporary romance (as Jamie Salisbury) and historical romance (as JR Salisbury) which is ever evolving. I am fortunate enough that writing (and marketing of said product(s)) is my full-time job, although I always have one or two other projects going at the same time.
I now live in a suburb of Atlanta. Some of my other interests include photography, equestrianism, reading, and of course, travel.
I sincerely hope my writing will entertain, enlighten, and inspire others to pick up the pen and pursue their own dreams. I love to be contacted by readers, writers, and history buffs.
