Do you have another interest besides writing?

Yes, I enjoy nonfiction hobby of history & linguistics from ancient hieroglyphics/hieroglyphs right on to the present. How each affects the other derivations of everyday idioms. Plus I like fishing.

How long have you been writing?

From the first day my gran’ma and my first-grade teacher took me on a library fieldtrip. I could live there! Insatiable hunger for books – the doors to the world,  an obsession that has only gotten bigger over time.

What is your next project?

The next project is already in final edit – Book 6 in the Moccasin Hollow Mystery Series.

Have you ever been to all the places in your book?

All of them.

Where do you get inspiration for your stories?

From people-watching and how they can/cannot be honest with the figure in the mirror. They repeat their mistakes without learning OR they never plan for success. When it hits them they fall apart.

Meet the Author:
Hawk MacKinney began writing mysteries for his school newspaper, served in the US Navy for over 20 years, earned two postgraduate degrees with studies in languages and history, taught postgraduate courses in the United States and Jerusalem, authored professional articles and chordate embryology texts on fetal and adult anatomy, and is well known for his works of fiction. Moccasin Trace, a historical novel, was nominated for the prestigious Michael Shaara Award for Excellence in Civil War Fiction and the Writers Notes Book Award. Both his CAIRNS OF SANCTUARIE science fiction series and the MOCCASIN HOLLOW MYSTERY series have received worldwide recognition.
