Leo Review smClose Encounters of the Curd KindAlthough I am new to this series, I have so been looking forward to reading this book. A few weeks ago I reviewed another of Kristen Weiss’ books ‘Close Encounters of the Curd Kind’, the latest book in her Wits’ End series. Tucked into the end of the book was a teaser for the Witches of Doyle series and this book which promised a different viewpoint of the story. The idea was intriguing. Kudos to the author not so much for being able to write two distinctly different styles of Cozy – small town and paranormal -but for her ability to intertwine the stories so seamlessly and flawlessly that the characters of each series have no idea how much they affect each other’s lives and sleuthing despite sharing the same town and friendships. Brilliant!

Reading Fate felt like I had been dropped into a mashup of  Charmed and A Wrinkle in Time with just a touch of Magic Misfits thrown in for seasoning. Amid the myriad of magical characters and goings-on, this engaging story never loses its Cozy charm as Jayce and her sisters along with the eclectic, magical and non-magical, citizens of Doyle and their shared history are at its heart. Despite the magical storm that drives the story to its climax, the quest for justice is never mislaid and makes for an enjoyable cozy read. I have to admit I was so caught up in the story and distracted by a fabulous red herring suspect that I missed the bad guy and I just love when that happens. Though this book stands on its own quite well, I am looking forward to catching up on the whole series.

I received a copy of this book in order to give an unbiased review. All opinions are my own.
