Leo Review sm

Beautiful illustrations and a descriptive turn of phrase will put middle grade junior detectives right in the action. Lawrence Pinkley makes for a fun protagonist to lead the way through puzzles that will keep even the most reluctant of readers engaged. My wish would be for it to be a bit longer as the adventure flies by way too fast. I am looking forward to the promised adventures of Lawrence Pinkely.

Though available as a e book, the paperback version of this book is my recommendation for the fun activities in the back pages with a website tie-in.

http://www.pinkleyacademy.com is vibrant, kid-friendly website with fun activity pages and puzzles from with the Lawrence Pinkley books and also a printable detective certificate.

Allow me to introduce myself – my name is Lawrence Pinkley, I’m a private detective. There aren’t many eighteen year old detectives in Whitby, in fact, I’m the only one, but not by choice. I found myself pulled to the cold north east of England following the death of my father, when I unwillingly inherited the Pinkley Investigation Group, or PIG for short..

About Tim Flanagan:
Tim FlanaganAt some point in Tim’s childhood, he was abducted by aliens and sent on a voyage of knowledge and discovery across the universe. Eventually the aliens realised how pointless this was and, as a failed student, he was returned to Earth and left with a family who brought him up as a human bean. But, the persistent memories of new worlds, dragons and other creatures, continued to knock at his frontal lobe, desperately trying to break out. To avoid making a mess and calm his imagination, Tim began writing as a way to communicate with Earthlings.
Tim’s galactic mission is to translate his brain activity into a language that inspires and entertains you, transports you to different worlds and grants you an audience with the characters you have dreamt about, but never dared to remember. All of this in an attempt to redeem himself with his childhood alien abductors and travel the stars once more.

About Dylan Gibson:
Dylan GibsonIn the early days of Nursery School Dylan drew a picture of a chicken; his Mother thought it was so good that she put it on the wall to be admired by all.  This simple picture was to be kept safe for years to come.  It was this symbolic act of a proud parent that his young impressionable mind took notice of, realizing that he had a talent, and that his drawing made people happy, he kept on doing it.
In-between going out to play and building model planes he practiced his drawings and got better and better.  In school teachers urged him to share his artwork with other classes, and when he did something particularly impressive he even got to visit the older classes with it!
Years of practice turned a hobby into a job, and after gaining a degree in Visual Communication Dylan started his illustration company.  Inspired by the world around him, Dylan has illustrated dozens of books, comics, and games and worked in advertising.

Meteorites land on Earth every day. Most no bigger than grains of sand. But what if one of them contained a bacteria that was alien to our planet?
This series has everything from aliens to fairies with a Dystopian parallel universe and an MI6 agent that refuses to quit.

The unusual disappearance of a young boy from a graveyard catapults two of his school friends on an adventure beyond their imagination. By unravelling ancient codes and riddles the children journey through the bowels of Edinburgh Castle in an attempt to find the key to their friend’s disappearance. But it’s a race against time as the very existence of mankind is hanging in the balance.

With mankind facing the greatest danger it has ever known, a small band of humans desperately seek help from the most unexpected place – an ancient bond between two worlds that had long been buried. As the children’s search for their friend continues danger lurks in the most innocent of places.

The bacteria has evolved into the deadliest of threats. The human race has lost its dominance and survival in the new world appears hopeless. But not all are happy to give in. If they can stop fighting amongst themselves some of the survivors may be able to stand up to the alien threat and rebuild the human race.

Humans are being hunted. Forced into hiding they learn to adapt and survive as best they can. But others are planning more. Stripped of technology they are forced to seek a more natural solution. One borne from the natural resources the Earth can offer, healing the rift between the human race and the planet.
