5 Questions with Marci Fair

Today I am sharing Marci Fair’s answers to Lian Asks 5 Questions. Ms. Fair is the author or co-author of several books including “The Amazing Adventures of Ellie the Elephant,” Co- written by her daughter Elle. About The Author:

As a working mother of four children, Marci Fair was inspired to share the hard-earned wisdom she gained from juggling work and motherhood for over twenty years. This labor of love resulted in her award winning book “TILT-7 Solutions To Be A Guilt-free Working Mom.” She teaches us that “Balance is impossible; memories are better.”

In addition, Marci and her twelve year old daughter Elle are writing an adventure series of books about Elle’s two favorite stuffed animals, Ellie the Elephant and Pudgy the Penguin. Their award winning series has been on the Amazon Best Seller lists as it shares imagination, creativity and adventure with its young audience.

What does it mean to you to be called an author?

Marci– For me, being an author is a tremendous opportunity to share a story, to positively impact another person.

My book for working parents, “TILT-7 Solutions To Be A Guilt-free Working Mom”, took me many years to write in between raising four children and all of my professional pursuits. But I persevered through it in order to hopefully help other parents overcome the struggles I have faced.

Lian- Being a working mom can’t be easy, it is great that you have shared what worked for you.

Which of your current works in progress are you most passionate about?

With the children’s adventure series now, it is a joy to create it with my youngest daughter (we began writing them when she was eight, now she is twelve). They are also a legacy piece for me – I envision reading them one day with a sweet grandchild on my lap!

I really think it is terrific that you are writing with your daughter and she has the chance to be published so young.

If you could be friends with a character in one of your stories who would it be and what kinds of things would you do together?

I love our Ellie the elephant character. She is brave, friendly, curious and action-oriented. She would be so fun to go on an adventure with!

Agreed. Ellie would be loads of fun to hang out with and she has a cool best friend.

Who do your stories appeal to?

Our children’s series appeals to children and adults who love to use their imagination, who love to be creative and who love to try something new.

It is a very innovative idea that I am sure that will appeal to many kids and their parents.

What is your all time favorite book or author?

I have read hundreds and hundreds of books myself, plus many many more with reading to my children. Choosing one favorite author is very difficult. For my books, I would have to say that I have really learned a lot from John Maxwell’s leadership books. For the children’s books, one of my favorites was “10 Minutes Until Bedtime.”

I love that you chose a favorite for adults and for kids.

Who or what inspired you to begin writing?

My husband and my four children have inspired me to write. They inspired me to write to help other challenged working parents. Then my youngest inspired me through her love of her very special stuffed animals, to memorialize a precious memory from childhood – imagining all the possibilities through the stuffed animals that you love the most!

It is awesome to take a childhood memory and turning into something for the world to share. Amazing idea!
